The program honors companies based on percentage
revenue growth between 2004 and 2006, according to a news
release for the program issued through Becker Communications.
"Pacific Business News is so pleased
to recognize small businesses for their outstanding leadership,
innovation and entrepreneurial spirit," said Publisher
Larry Fuller. "We are extremely proud of this program
as it spotlights small business successes and serves as
an inspiration to companies across the state."
Big Island companies that made the list
included: Hilo-based ProVision Technologies ranking nine
with a 400.79 percent revenue growth; Waikoloa-based White
Sands Construction ranking 19 with a 130.8 percent revenue
growth; Kailua-Kona-based Rainbow Real Estate Group dba
Typically Tropical Properties ranking 25 with a 89.7 percent
revenue growth; Keaau-based Big Island Fencing ranking
26 with a 86.59 percent revenue growth; Kailua-Kona-based
Aloha Insurance Services ranking 30 with a 74.05 percent
revenue growth; Kailua-Kona-based Kona Coast House of
Lights with a 53.52 percent revenue growth; and Kailua-Kona-based
Pacific Boats and Yachts with a 48.49 percent revenue
growth.
Marco Mangelsdorf, president of ProVision
Technologies said the company, which focuses on solar
electric system design and installation, has been able
to establish credibility and trust within the community.
"We know what we are doing,"
Mangelsdorf said. "We stand behind our products."
The demand for solar power has increased
in recent years, Mangelsdorf said, adding the company
has installed systems for both commercial and residential
customers across the state. He said people want to lower
energy costs and do something that has a positive impact
on the environment.
Mangelsdorf said his company is able to
show clearly, through spreadsheets and presentations,
that they do their homework.
He said they are dependable, knowledgeable
and the demand is great across the state for their services.
Jon Lawson, president of Kona Coast House
of Lights, said the business has been successful because
they have a team of knowledgeable employees and customer
service is of the utmost importance.
And having a 25,000 square foot warehouse filled with
in-stock products doesn't hurt either, he said.
The company focuses on providing light fixtures
and ceiling fans to both commercial and residential customers.
He said remodeling and new construction are some of the
reasons they have experienced a high demand of products.
"Right now I am lucky, I have a really
great team," Lawson said, adding employees go through
months of training so they can accurately assist customers.
Jon Stiles, president of Big Island Fencing,
said his success is "through the grace of God."
"We are just diligent. It was just
a matter of focus," Stiles said, adding while the
company does some commercial fencing, they mainly focus
on residential properties.
"You do a good job, it's a small town,
word travels," Stiles said. "We do fencing,
and that's what we do. The residential market has been
very good to us."
