We are now ProVision Solar! Providing the highest quality solar electric products, design and installations across the Hawaiian islands.

ProVision Solar Inc. was originally incorporated as ProVision Technologies, Inc. in 1998 under Hawaiian Electric Industries to take advantage of the growing market for photovoltaic (PV) applications across the Hawaiian Islands. In 2003, Marco Mangelsdorf, one of ProVision’s original employees, and his childhood friend, Douglas Bath, purchased ProVision from HEI and have been at the helm ever since. ProVision is headquartered in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii, the island known for its geographical diversity and strong potential for renewable energy applications. We also have offices in Kailua-Kona and on Maui as well as having done commercial and residential projects on Kauai, Lanai and Molokai.

ProVision Solar serves the Hawai’i community by providing premier solar electric products for homes, businesses and government applications. Since incorporating as one of Hawai’i’s first pure PV companies, we are locally-owned neighbors who can be trusted to offer the best selection of superior products, committed service and affordable pricing to give you the best. Our roots are nourished by doing right for our valued customers, our ProVision ohana, Hawai’i nei and the planet.

We offer system designs to meet the needs of customers and adds value to existing products by providing financing, customer education, standardization of design and maintenance services. Since 2005 and as its first partner in the state, ProVision has been a Premier Dealer for SunPower Corporation in Hawaii. SunPower produces the world’s most powerful solar with the highest efficiency solar electric modules in mass production on the planet. Our SunPower line includes 225-watt and 240-watt modules with industry leading 18+ and 19+ percent overall efficiencies respectively. We also offer American-made Schott Solar products as well as Ori Solar modules. (Click here to see a useful module comparison PDF.)

The ProVision staff, which includes industry leaders who have been working in the renewable energy field since the 1970s, is committed to providing our customers with the highest quality products and unparalleled service. We are a fully licensed and insured electrical contractor (C-13), the only Hawaii state contractor license classification which can obtain the necessary electrical permits to install PV systems from start to finish. While we are licensed to do all types of general electrical work, we have chosen to focus exclusively on installing PV systems. Why purchase a solar electric system from a non-licensed contractor or plumber or roofer when you can get a turnkey system from one of the oldest and most experienced PV firms in the state? And feel free to ask us for a list of references. Our happy and satisfied customers would be more than happy to talk with you.

We are also proud to be the only solar electric firm in the state operating our work vehicles on 100 percent reclaimed bio-based biodiesel from our friends at Pacific Biodiesel. Bob and Kelly King and the crew at Pac Bio have been pioneers in the field of producing B-100 biodiesel by reclaiming waste cooking oil around the state. With operations on O’ahu, Maui and the Big Island, Pacific Biodiesel (www.biodiesel.com) is leading the way toward greater energy independence for our Aloha State and ProVision is very pleased to be able to run our fleet on this Hawai’i-based renewable fuel.

Marco and Douglas, ProVision’s president and vice-president, respectively, have been working in the renewable energy field since the 1970s and have done projects on the Mainland, Central America and Asia before making ProVision one of the pioneering solar electric firms in Hawaii.
